 We are thrilled to share our 2nd place result at the SoCal Shootout!  On October 15th, 2022, we participated in the SoCal Shootout against several other Formula SAE teams from southern California at Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside. After three rounds of three time attack laps, our score totaled .4 seconds off of CalPoly Pomona’s Bronco Motorsports, with our best lap only .08 seconds off of theirs. We are incredibly proud of this result given the flat-out high speed track configuration which lent an advantage to teams with larger higher horsepower motors. This event was a stellar opportunity for us to gain valuable experience running the car in a competitive setting and putting the car through stresses never seen in autocross. We were able to validate the strength of many components including our suspension uprights, aero mountings, and more as the car went through high speed corners and bounced over curbs and bumps.  We had the opportunity to address engine and setup issues which we did successfully. Lengthening the rear sway bar, adding rear downforce, and reducing rear tire pressure contributed to a more stable car. Replacing our battery with a fresh unit helped combat inconsistent power to our fuel injector. After these changes, we reduced our lap time by over a second. These experiences are invaluable as preparation for more efficient testing sessions and a better performance at Formula SAE Competition this May in Michigan.
